2006 ARC Winter Workshop Series

On Wednesday, March 22, the Arts Council’s Arts Resource Center presented a workshop entitled “Marketing for Arts Organizations.” The event was lively and well attended. Presenters included New Haven Register Arts Editor Donna Doherty, News Channel 8’s Director of Marketing Marylee Weber, and design firm Elements, LLC’s Principal Amy Wentworth Graver and PR Director Jim Katz. The event was moderated by Bob Parker, Marketing Director of Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES).
This hands-on session was attended by representatives of arts organizations all over Greater New Haven such as Bethwood Suzuki, Neighborhood Music School, Young Audiences of CT, Jazz Haven, Shoreline Alliance for the Arts, and many others.

SMALL SPACE GALLERY

Narratives, curated by Fethi Megheli, features works by self-taught artists whose pieces tell real and imaginative stories, often with humor, about a broad range of human experiences. Participating artists include Lee Brooks, Marriellen Chapdelaine, John Flemoing, Paul Walter Graham, Willard James, John Kabala, Lee Laforte, Jarrod Law, Clarice Pollack, Norma Toney And Lyn Traverse. The exhibit takes place throught April 14 at 70 Audubon Street, 2nd floor.

CUBICLES FOR ART


Cubicles for Art is a program of the Arts Council that matches emerging artists with unconventional spaces to showcase their work. The main cubicle is at the Arts Council and additional Cubicle Gallery Spaces can be found throughout the city occupying walls of business office cubicles. Through their partnership, each benefits from the others audience. The Arts Council helps facilitate matching interested artists with spaces. This month's featured artist is Louis Jefferson III, A Student at Southern Connecticut State University who is currently featured in Paint Magazine.The exhibit will take place at the Arts Council and Youth Rights Media, 77 Willow Street, through April 14.

Graffiti Jam @ Frank's Hardware Store

The Arts Council in collaboration with Jellyfish Projetz and The Bridge presented a Graffiti Jam on March 4 at Frank's Hardware Store. Showcasing dozens of area graffiti artists, the Graffiti Jam also featured turntablists, B-boys, and free graffiti demonstrations. The event was made possible with the support of Urbane New Haven.
